Cleveland Browns WR Donte Stallworth Kills Pedestrian
This morning, around 7:15 a.m., Cleveland Browns wide receiver Donte Stallworth, 28, was driving his Bentley and accidentally hit and killed a pedestrian while the other man was crossing the causeway linking downtown Miami and Miami Beach.
At 8 a.m., the man was pronounced dead at a Trauma Center. At the time of this report, it is not known if the man was ‘J-walking’ or if Stallworth was in violation of any traffic laws. But, Stallworth had his blood drawn for testing of alcohol and drugs. Cops said this is standard procedure. Stallworth is cooperating with authorities and no charges have been filed against the NFL player.
Stallworth signed a seven-year, $35 million contract with the Browns as a free agent before last season but hardly played because he was hurt. He was due a $4.75 million signing bonus Friday.
He previously played for the New England Patriots, Philadelphia Eagles and New Orleans Saints in the NFL and the University of Tennessee in college.~AP
This is a developing story. I’ll update this post once I find out the latest news on this tragedy.
Just in case you aren’t familiar with Donte Stallworth here is a video clip, from the 2007 Espy Award night, where Stallworth talks about the best advice he received from a coach.
